1ST STOP: Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
Paoay Sand Dunes is one of a wholesome experience in my Ilocos vacation. Riding in a 4×4 Off-Road Truck, i have experienced a mini- heart attack and loss of breath due to the sandy atmosphere of the place. Rent fee of the truck is a little bit pricey but surely your money won’t go to waste! Although it might get you out of balance and your tracks sometimes, the irreplaceable excitement and heart-pounding experience is one of the highlights of this travel.
FUN FACT: The Bagani, a historical-fiction teleserye of ABS-CBN choose Paoay Sand Dunes to shoot most of their scenes!
2ND STOP: Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte
I’ve visited certain places before going to the actual beach of Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte. We went to the Dragonfruit Farm, seeing a large field and production of dragonfruit here in the Philippines. Their Dragonfruit ice cream is a must try! Next stop is the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in which we’ve entered the lighthouse, sighting the whole Ilocos right before our eyes! Nothing much to say, but you should also come and pay a visit in the lighthouse for it is one of the most historical places in the city. Next is the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, also a highlight in my travel. The formations of the rocks is drastically beautiful and of course, taking pictures is huge MUST. Before going to our last stop, we also take time in seeing the Patapat Viaduct Bridge and Kabigan Falls, and soon we went to Saud Beach. The white sand makes the whole place beautiful, and luckily we went there uncrowded. We watched the sunset and right after we went home before night fills the place.
3RD STOP: Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
And for our last day, which is only half of the day because we need to go back to Manila asap. I’ve visited the Baluarte Zoo in Ilocos Sur but sadly, we didn’t see a lot of animals as we expect us to see. I’ve also visited the beautiful Calle Crisologo, in which they flashes the historic culture of the Filipinos during the colonization of the Spaniards. The houses were mostly made form wood, and they also offer transportations by Kalesa! I’ve also encountered Ilocano and Ilocanas that weren’t able to speak Tagalog and thanks to my Tita for translating my word for them to understand. Ilocanos/Ilocanas are every much hospitable and kind!
My Ilocos Escapade may have ended, but the memories and experiences I have done in the place is too beautiful to be forgotten. The places, events and people I have encountered with will be treasured.
